Furthermore, she finished her PhD in clinical pharmacy (diabetes management) from DMU, Leicester, United Kingdom in 2020 and had also diabetes management certificate from ASHP in 2023.

Dr. Alqurain is an assistant professor of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics at the clinical practice department, college of pharmacy at Northern Boarder University. He worked as an assistant professor of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics in the pharmacy department at Mohammed Al-Mana College for Medical Sciences. He is qualified with degrees in pharmacy from Curtin University, palliative care from Flinders University, and pharmacology from the University of South Australia. He is licensed to practice as a consultant pharmacist in Saudi Arabia and as a researcher pharmacist in Australia. Dr. Alqurain had the opportunity to work in various clinical settings, including ICU, palliative care, geriatrics, and internal medicine. His focus is on the safe and effective use of medicines, medication safety, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacogenetics. His focus is on enhancing drug therapy for vulnerable patients, like elderly or paediatric patients.

Prof. Maha Saber - Ayad

She finished her MSc in Endocrinology and Diabetes, Queen Mary University, UK; and her MSc in Leadership in Health Profession Education, RCSI, Ireland. MSc and PhD in Pharmacology at Cairo University. She has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh since 2013. Her main research focuses on colorectal cancer and its relation to autophagy. She has many publications in high-ranked peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. She obtained several grants and research awards, including Sheikh Hamdan Award, Aljalila, MBRU-AlMahmeed, and GSK grants.

Dr. Eman Abu-Gharbieh

Prof. Eman Abu-Gharbieh is the Vice Dean at the College of Medicine, University of Sharjah. She earned her PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2004 and her Pharmacy degree from the University of Jordan. As an active researcher, she is a member of several national and international organizations, including the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). She also participates in two research groups at the Research Institute for Medical & Health Sciences (RIMHS): the Environment and Cancer Research group and the Improving Health Care Delivery and Medicines group. Prof. Abu-Gharbieh is a senior collaborator with the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD), has secured numerous research grants, and has published over 140 articles in international peer-reviewed journals. Her work has been presented at many national and international conferences

Dr. Waseem El-huneidi

Dr. Waseem El-Huneidi is a Professor of Biochemistry at the Collegeof Medicine, University of Sharjah. He earned his Ph.D. inbiochemistry from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, in2008. Since then, Dr. El-Huneidi has worked in academia in severalcountries, including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. His researchprimarily focuses on diabetes and cancer, specifically investigatingthe roles of novel genes as potential regulators in the development ofthese diseases. Additionally, he explores the therapeutic potential ofterpenoids as treatments for cancer and diabetes. Dr. El-Huneidi'swork provides valuable insights into biochemistry, disease pathology,and possible therapeutic strategies for these conditions.

Prof. Jalal Taneera

Associate Prof | United Arab Emirates

Dr. Taneera received his Ph.D. degree in experimental endocrinology (2007) at Lund University – Sweden. The main focus of his Ph.D. was to study the ability of adult stem cells to trans-differentiate into pancreatic beta-cell as a cell therapy for diabetes. After his Ph.D. he joined the department of diabetes and endocrinology at Lund University for post-doctoral training and besides his post-doc study, he worked as a coordinator for the Human Islets Facility at Lund University Diabetes Center (LUDC). In 2010, he started a new position at LUDC as Research Scientist. His main focus is on genetic profiling of human pancreatic islets and the identification of novel genes that contribute to type 2 diabetes etiopathogenesis. Dr. Taneera has a level of Assistant prof., he published about 80 peer-reviewed papers in major journals such as Cell Metabolism, PNAS, Nature, and Human Molecular Genetics. Since Mars, 2016 Dr. Taneera is working as Associate Prof at the medical college at University of Sharjah.

Dr. Hiba Jawdat Barqawi

Hiba Jawdat Barqawi is a Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the College of Medicine in the University of Sharjah, where she teaches Medical Microbiology to undergraduate students. She obtained her MPharm (Hons) Pharmacy degree from the University of Bath, UK and then pursued postgraduate studies in Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College, University of London, UK. She was the Winner of the University of Sharjah Annual Faculty Incentive Award (Teaching Category) in May 2023.

Dr. Amr Amin

The focus of Amin’s lab is to unravel the cellular and molecularmechanisms of selected natural-based small molecules againstgastrointestinal cancers. Through utilizing various cellular & molecular,nanoparticles, bioinformatics, and metabolomics techniques Amin’slab investigate a variety of biomolecules aiming to introduce them aspotential drug targets. He secured ten patents at United States, Japanand Australia. The nature on Amin’s research is highly collaborative.Throughout his career, Amin’s collaboration’s network grewsignificantly to include over 400 international collaborators from topresearch institutions in the word including Harvard, Stanford, andOxford, to name a few. He supervised many PhD and MSc Theses. Hisgraduate students were recruited to Harvard, ETH Zurich, FREDHUTCHINSON CANCER CENTER and many other prestigious schools.Prof. Amin published about 150 research articles and invited reviewsin top peer-reviewed journals where his students are usually co-authors. Amin is an editorial member and guest editor of manyjournals. Amin’s work in academia has been recognized by multiplenational and international awards including the UAE Presidential“Khalifa Award for Education for University Professor Distinguished inScientific Research” of UAE, the “Shoman Award for Arab Researchers”and others.

Prof. Iman Talaat

Professor and a Consultant Anatomic Pathologist | United Arab Emirates

Prof. Iman M. Talaat is a Professor and a Consultant Anatomic Pathologist at the Clinical Sciences Department, College of Medicine, University of Sharjah. She earned an MSc and a PhD/MD in Anatomic Pathology from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, Egypt. She specializes in surgical and molecular pathology, focusing on cancer research, mainly solid tumors and the pathogenesis of different neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases. She is the coordinator of the “Immuno-oncology” research group at the Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS) at the University of Sharjah, which focuses on understanding the cancer microenvironment and, in particular, the crosstalk between immune and tumor cells, as well as the epigenetic regulation of carcinogenesis. Additionally, she is a member of the Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics research group and the co-director of the Sharjah Tissue Biobank at the RIMHS. Moreover, she is a member of several scientific societies, such as the American Society for Investigative Pathology, the European Association of Cancer Research, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the Digital Pathology Association. She has over 100 publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and is the PI and co-PI of various internal and external grants.

Dr. Mohamed Abdulrahman Albekery

"Dr. Mohamed A. Albekery is an Assistant Professor of Nephrology Pharmacotherapy in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the College of Clinical Pharmacy, King Faisal University, and serves as a Nephrology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the National Guard Health Affairs in AlAhsa, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Albekery completed his Pharm.D. at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) in 2017. His postgraduate studies include a PGY-1 residency accredited by both the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), and a PGY-2 in Nephrology at King Abdulaziz Medical City in 2020. Additionally, he holds an ASHP teaching certificate and a Training of Trainers certificate from SCFHS. He actively publishes in nephrology-focused peer-reviewed journals and has presented on various nephrology-related topics at multiple conferences. Dr. Albekery is also a Surveyor for SCFHS training program and center accreditations and is a member of several committees.

Dr. Miteb A. Alanazi,

Miteb Alanazi is a senior pediatric oncology clinical pharmacist at King Saud University Medical City. He started his career in the pharmacy field since 2003. Dr. Miteb earned his master degree in clinical pharmacy from the pharmacy college at King Saud University. He acted as out-patient pharmacy assistant director from 2011-2015. Also, he was the director of pharmacy research center and toxicology lab from 2011-2013. Dr. Miteb is an active member of many professional societies such as “Saudi Oncology Pharmacy Assembly”, “American Association of College of Pharmacy”, and “Saudi Pharmaceutical Society”. Additionally, Dr. Miteb is the co-chair for the Vaccine Advisory Committee at King Saud University Medical City. Dr. Afnan Saad Alshnbari

Dr. Afnan Saad Alshnbari is a registered pharmacist with a PhD in Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology from the University of Nottingham, UK. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Mohammed Al-Mana College for Medical Sciences, where she instructs students in pharmacology, evidence-based medicine, and another subject in pharmacy. Additionally, she holds the position of chair on patents and intellectual properties and leads initiatives for intellectual awareness. Dr. Alshnbari has a strong research background, particularly in the cardiorenal protection of SGLT2 inhibitors in diabetes, with multiple publications and conference presentations. She is passionate about combining teaching, research, and public engagement in health education.

Prof. Ahmed Alhusban

Dr. Alhusban Obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology and joined the University of Georgia-US to obtain his Ph.D. in Clinical andExperimental Therapeutics. He then joined the JUST as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy. His research is focused on understanding the mechanisms by which diabetes and hyperlipidemia impair the neuroprotective effect of endothelial cellsafter stroke at the preclinical level. Additionally, Dr. Alhusban has a special interest in the use of virtual reality in education. Currently, heis holding an associate professor position at the university of Sharjah. Title of the topic: The quest for biomarkers in stroke: Thrombospondin-1 as a predictorof stroke outcome.

Dr. Khalid Bajou

Dr. Khalid Bajou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Biology at the College of Sciences, University of Sharjah. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Liège, Belgium, in 2001. After completing his doctorate, Dr. Bajou conducted five years of postdoctoral research at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Before joining the University of Sharjah in 2015, he held a faculty position as Assistant Professor at the University of Liège. Dr. Bajou’s research is primarily focused on Cancer Biology, particularly on the tumor microenvironment. His work investigates the pathological roles of the fibrinolytic system in angiogenesis and metastasis, with the aim of developing of new cancer therapies.

Dr. Ahmed Almehdi

Associate Professor | United Arab Emirates

Dr. Ahmed M. Almehdi is an Associate Professor at the University of Sharjah, UAE, specializing in Biochemistry with a focus on protein biochemistry and biosynthesis. He holds a Ph.D. from Oregon State University and has extensive experience in research areas such as biochemical enzymology, toxicology of bioactive natural products, metallomics, and redox coenzymes. Dr. Almehdi has held several academic leadership roles, including Manager of the Students Study Abroad Unit and Team Leader for the Students Exchange Program. His research interests span the biochemical effects of natural products and metals, particularly in the fields of cancer, diabetes, and antimicrobial activity. Dr. Almehdi has been recognized for his scientific contributions, having authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and patents, including innovative work on dual inhibitors for SARS-CoV-2. He has also been awarded multiple service excellence awards for his contributions to academic and community service.

Dr. Sameh Soliman

Associate professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Infectious diseases Research Group Coordinator | United Arab Emirates

Dr. Sameh Soliman has obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in pharmaceutical sciences. He received his PhD from University of Guelph, Canada in chemical ecology of natural metabolites and its role in host-microbe interactions. Then he did a Postdoctoral fellowship in mycotoxin manipulation and detoxification at Canadian Federal labs followed by another Postdoctoral fellow at UCLA in Chemical and biomolecular engineering of natural products. At UCLA Medical School, he has been trained on pathogenesis mechanisms in infectious diseases, and possible ways in diagnosis and treatment. Currently, he is an associate professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Infectious diseases Research Group Coordinator. Dr Soliman published more than 120 articles, several book chapters, and three patents, and received several awards. Several of these articles are published in Nature Microbiology, Nature Communication, Science Advances, Scientific Reports, Current Biology, and others. Dr. Soliman is leading projects in chemical ecology and metabolic dynamics in host- microbe interaction with a research focus on the discovery of microbial toxins, the identification of binding host receptors, signaling pathways, and mechanisms of immune evasion. His research includes the design and discovery of new antimicrobial drugs and drug re-sensitization to overcome resistance problems, the use of natural products and foods to manipulate and protect against microbial and viral infections, in addition to the development of diagnostic strategies.

Dr. Shereen Aleidi

Dr. Shereen Aleidi is an Associate professor of biochemistry the college of Pharmacy, University of Sharjah. She obtained her PhD in pharmacy from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2016. Dr. Aleidi has been very productive and has published several papers in peer-reviewed highly qualified journals. Dr. Aleidi research area includes biomarker discovery and evaluation: unraveling hidden biomolecular signatures that could revolutionize diagnostics, prognostics, and personalized medicine. Multi-Omics (Metabolomics, lipidomics, and proteomics) analysis and clinical interpretation.

Dr. Rania Hamdy

Environmental and chemical biology research group | United Arab Emirates

Dr. Rania Hamdy. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in pharmaceutical sciences from the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. She got her PhD through a channel program between Cardiff University in the United Kingdom and Zagazig University in Egypt. She then completed a research fellowship at Sharjah Institute of Medical Research SIMR in the infectious disease lab. Currently she joined the Environmental and chemical biology research group as a postdoc fellowship. She worked on lead optimization and drug design of innovative natural-based bioactive therapeutic candidates with a primary focus on antibacterial, antiviral, and anticancer research. She was trained in artificial intelligence and its applications in drug design and discovery, as well as synthetic organic chemistry. Her research focuses on identifying novel therapeutic targets involved in virulent pathogenic mechanisms and potential treatment approaches. Her research interests include also the design and synthesis of new small molecules that function as potential bioactive agents. She applied computational computer-based methodologies to the design of novel bioactive compounds, focusing on infectious disease. Her main goal is to accelerate the discovery of novel biologically active hits that may subsequently be optimized to prospective clinical candidates, which she accomplishes by integrating several approaches ranging from conventional medicinal chemistry to more modern computer-based procedures. Her patent and international publications, as well as the national and worldwide network of active collaborations she has created over the years, highlight the very interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of her research

Prof. Amna Othman

Dr Amna Othman is a pharmacist with master’s degree in clinical drug development. She is currently a research assistant and clinical tutor at College of Pharmacy, University of Sharjah since 2018 to date. Her area of expertise is in pharmacy practice, health services, and clinical pharmacy research. Additionally, she provides significant assistance in teaching, tutoring, and organizing e-learning technologies, as well as in supporting PharmD students' training.

Dr. Ali Abdullah,

"RPh. Ali Abdullah is the head of Total parenteral nutrition unit in the Pharmacy Department of Mubarak Al-Kabeer hospital. Mubarak Al-Kabeer hospital is considered as one of the biggest and major hospitals in Kuwait which serves a population of no less than 250,000. He leaded some teams within the department such as participating in the scientific and the quality control teams. RPh. Abdullah is also a visiting teaching assistant in the Pharmaceutical Science department in College of Health Science in Public Authority of Applied Education and Training. Alongside, RPh. Abdullah contributed in editing the 200 Common Drugs of Kuwait Booklet which is the most recent medicines references in Kuwait. Moreover, he also contributed in authoring in several articles in collaboration with Kuwait university. RPh. Abdullah graduated with MSc from Kings college of London which is one of the most distinguished schools of pharmacy worldwide."

Dr. Alkazemi is an assistant professor at Kuwait University's College of Pharmacy. She earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy from Kuwait University in 2008 and a Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacy, from University College London in 2014. Continuing her academic endeavors, Dr. Alkazemi furthered her education with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from MCPHS University, Boston, USA, in 2018. She then completed an ASHP accredited Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency at BIDMC Hospital, Boston, USA, in 2019. Dr. Alkazemi completed two clinical research pharmacy fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, USA. She finished a fellowship in Quality and Safety in 2020, followed by a fellowship in Critical Care in 2021. Dr. Alkazemi has experience in clinical practice within hospital settings, coupled with publications concentrated in the realm of critical care. She has interest in ECMO-related pharmacokinetic alterations of medications, TDM, anticoagulation management in addition to education on ECMO-related pharmacotherapy principles. "

"Dr. Arwa Alfraij is a clinical pharmacist graduated from the College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree, Academic year 2017, and completed the Add-on PharmD Program at the College of Pharmacy, Kuwait University, Academic Year 2018-2019. Oct, 2019 started the clinical role as clinical pharmacist in internal medicine ward, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital (MKH) covering both Male and Female sides. "Dr. Maryam AlObaidly received her Bachelor of Pharmacy from the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, Ireland followed by a Masters's degree in Molecular and Cellular Therapy in platelet activation during pregnancy at the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, Ireland while practicing as a pharmacy intern in a private pharmacy. She briefly served as a pharmacist in specialized polyclinics (Qurtoba and AlSaqer) and public hospitals (AlAdan and Mubarak AlKabeer). She then joined Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University to receive her Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
